Selectors will come into conversation to discuss the plan for the away tours: Virat Kohli

India had a terrible outing in the first Test of the series against South Africa when they failed to capitalize on a number of chances they created themselves and eventually lost the game by 72 runs as they failed to chase down a modest total of 208. The second Test at the Centurion turned out another flop-show for the Kohli-led men as they tumbled in the run chase when debutante Lungi Ngidi ripped apart the Indian batting with a six fer.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli during the post-match press conference, when asked about the team selection, quizzed the journalist If he can provide him the best playing 11, he will play that. He said that the side goes with the best possible 11 as per the conditions on the ground.

One of the journalists asked the Indian skipper If they would try and look for other talented players who can do well on the foreign conditions, the centurion of the first innings said that he will speak with the selectors about it.

He said that he can not speak on the behalf of Indian selectors thought process but suggested that the selectors will come into the conversation. He said that the conversation will happen provided India is set to play a large number of games away from home. “We have to identify all the areas which need improvement and accordingly act on those. Obviously, the selectors are going to be a big part of that conversation,” Kohli told the reporters.

Praising the opposition, Kohli said that South Africa played better collectively and they were much better side than India. He also praised the African bowlers and said that they put them under a lot of pressure while bowling. He also mentioned how the opposition batsmen came up with good partnerships. The South African side showed more character than India.

South Africa was the questions thrown at him were tough which made the skipper lose his cool and counter the question. One of the journalists present in the press-conference asked Kohli that how Kohli’s tactics of change of side in almost every game he has captained are one of the reasons for India’s poor outings on poor conditions. The skipper was quick to remind him the number of games which the side has won in all those matches. He said that he is in the press-conference to answer his question and not to fight with him.
