Australian Test wicket-keeper Matthew Wade has become the latest person to join the ongoing debate over the payment dispute between Australian cricketers and the Cricket Australia. Wade, in his recent remarks, has noted that the players will do everything possible to ensure that the best interests of the players are preserved. The current form of revenue sharing sees the players get paid depending on the generated revenues by the board.

However, recently, the Cricket Australia came up with a new model stating many changes which did not go well with the players. Clearly, the new plans proposed by the board do not see the players get an equal pay as to what they used to get earlier. Also, the Cricket Australia Chief James Sutherland had threatened the players to accept the model, else they will end up losing their contracts with the board.

The Australia Cricketers’ Association (ACA) had expressed their dissatisfaction over the same saying that the stance taken by the board is totally uncalled for. Several players, including Mitchell Starc and David Warner, hinted at the possible boycott of the Ashes this season if the demands of the players are not met.

Wade joins the discussion

Now, Matthew Wade has joined the discussion. He noted that the players want the dispute to end soon. They are ready to do whatever it takes to serve the interests of the players. Wade further added that the senior players and the ACA will be guiding the players about the same.

“Hopefully it gets resolved, we don’t want to be unemployed for a period of time. But if it gets there we’ll have to do what it takes. We’ll fall into line with what the big dogs do. The senior players will kind of direct us on which way to go. We’ll obviously be guided by the ACA. But I don’t think we’re asking for anything more, we’re just asking for exactly what we’ve got now and to continue that model,” Matthew Wade quoted.
