Aniket Choudhary was not a household name in Indian domestic circuit. The lanky pacer was suddenly in the spotlight when the Indian team management called him up to travel with them as a nets bowler, to prepare against the threat of a certain Mitchel Starc for the upcoming Aussie tour of India.

Gone are the days when India had the luxury of Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra at their disposal. The threat that Starc possesses forced the Indian team management to specifically look for a left-arm quickie to practice. “It is a big opportunity for me to have been chosen by the Indian management to bowl to star Indian batsmen in the nets. Playing for India is every budding cricketer’s dream, but to have even earned this opportunity means a lot to me”, told Aniket to Sportskeeda.

The timing of this event couldn’t have got better for the Rajasthan pacer, who had expressed his wish to play for RCB last week. The RCB captain, Virat Kohli, who was at the India nets literally granted the speedster his wish. Aniket got picked in the auction by RCB for a whopping Rs 2 crore. An excited Aniket was quoted saying to Sportskeeda “I was bowling to Virat Kohli in the nets when the Indian team manager came and informed me that I was brought by RCB for 2 crores. Fast bowling ki poori thakaan utar gayi yeh news se (the tiredness of fast bowling went away with the news)”.

The RCB management was not keen to go aggressive in the auction, they did themselves a favour by picking a few interesting choices in the bowling department in the form of Tymal Mills, another left-armer who had recent success in India, Pawan Negi and Billy Stanlake. Aniket expects to learn a lot from Tymal Mills, who is a T20 specialist and was very effective in the white-ball leg of the English tour of India.
