Kiwis have named right-arm medium pacer Seth Rance as a replacement for injured quickie Adam Milne for the rest of ODIs and T20Is against Windies at home. Milne injured his foot after which he was pulled out from the limited-overs series. The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after a victory in the first ODI by five wickets. They would also be keen on wrapping up the series when the two teams meet at Christchurch for the second ODI match.

25-year-old fast bowler Adam Milne has been around the New Zealand squad for a while now, but he is still considered as the third seam bowling option compared to the two front-line pacers, Trent Boult and Tim Southee. The Kiwi selector Gavin Larsen also mentioned that Milne follows a great amount of work ethics to improve his fitness and also works very hard day in and day out. He feels that the pacer is expected to be fit for the long summer ahead.

“Adam has a great work ethic and puts a lot into his fitness, so I certainly feel for him with this injury. It’s a long summer and there’s a lot of cricket left for Adam to play, so we’ll work with him to get him back to full fitness,” said Larsen as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

We were looking forward to selecting Rance in T20Is

The selector revealed that young pacer Seth Rance has been awarded a call-up in the national side because of consistent performances in the domestic season. He also admitted that they were already very keen to select him for the T20I series against the Windies. Rance will now join the squad for the remaining games in the limited-overs series and display his talent and abilities at the big stage if given an opportunity.

“Seth comes into the squad off the back of consistently strong domestic performances. We were already looking at Seth for the upcoming Twenty20 series, so this just brings him into the squad slightly earlier than anticipated,” added the selector.
