The Pakistan team has had some great success in their home assignment against the West Indies. They won both the first two T20Is by some huge margins and were absolutely ruthless. They scored over 200 in both the games. Furthermore, their bowlers put up an impressive show as they won the first T20I by 143 runs and the second one by 82 runs.

However, the team is hit with a bad news ahead of the 3rd T20I today. Their leggie Shadab Khan is fined by the ICC for breaching its code of conduct during the second T20I. The 19-year-old Shadab looked impressive with the ball as he picked three wickets so far in the series.

Shadab Khan fined 20% of the match fee

Shadab Khan was fined 20% of the match fee and was also handed one demerit point after being found guilty of a level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The Pakistan wrist spinner was found to have violated article 2.1.7 of the code, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an international match”.

In the ninth over of the Windies’ innings, Shadab dismissed Chadwick Walton. Walton who was the highest scorer for the Windies was bowled by Shadab Khan. Shadab celebrated aggressively after picking up the wicket. Furthermore, he pointed his finger at the departing batsman and also made an inappropriate comment.

After the match, Shadab admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. Hence, there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Shozab Raza and Ahmed Shahab. Also, third umpire Ahsan Raza, as well as fourth umpire Khalid Mahmood were involved in leveling the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand. It includes a maximum penalty percent cent of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.
