Pakistan are currently in England for a limited-overs series against the home side. The first ODI of the proposed series took place on July 8 where hosts dominated all the way to clinch the game by nine wickets. Many cricketers criticized the Men in Green for showing no intent at all to win the game. In the same light, former cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja opened up on Pakistan’s leg-spinner Shadad Khan.

Raja stated that he doesn’t understand the role of Shadab Khan in current Pakistan’s side. He should have a similar profile like Hardik Pandya of India who has been India’s go-to all-rounder in various crucial fixtures for the team. Raja stated that he doesn’t understand whether he is a power hitter or saviour. The former great feels that Khan’s power-hitting has gone missing for quite some time and he certainly needs to figure that out.

I don’t understand Shadab Khan’s batting: Ramiz Raja

“I don’t understand Shadab’s batting. What is his role when he comes out to bat? Is he a savior or a power hitter? Today he could have played easily because they had a lot of overs in the bank. But generally, his batting is going through a rusty period. He should have a profile like Hardik Pandya. He is a power hitter who scores quick fifties. Shadab’s power-hitting has completely gone missing which is saddening because he is so young. This should be his peak time. But we don’t see that kind of batting from him and he needs a lot of work. In this batting lineup Shadab has more value as a power hitter,” said Raja on his YouTube channel.

The former cricketer was also not impressed by his team’s lack of intent in both the departments to pull off the game. Raja is of the thought that Pakistan men have to make a quick turnaround by having a lesson from their first ODI of the series. The second ODI would be played at Lord’s and would be a must-win fixture for the visitors.
