All the talks of Sunday morning revolved around the big IPL 2017 auctions. All team managements got their heads together to get their permutations right for the purchases. Kolkata Knight Riders, the two-time IPL champions, were no different. Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of the franchise, was a mighty pleased man with the new picks in his squad. Soon after the auctions concluded, the Bollywood superstar took to Twitter to express his satisfaction over the new Knights that the team picked.

He retweeted the tweet posted by the official Twitter handle of the Kolkata Knight Riders. In a tweet by the KKR franchise, they asked their fans about the opinion on the players picked in the auction. They had written, “Our purchases from the VIVO #IPLAuction 2017. Let us know what you think of our new additions. #KnightsOf2017.” Shah Rukh Khan retweeted the same and added his words of contentment with the same. He wrote, “I think we are all set. Well done Team.”

Talking about the auctions, KKR raked in 9 new players which included as many as 5 overseas players. One can easily point out the purchase of Trent Boult to be the most intelligent one. KKR spent as many as INR 5 crore for the Kiwi pace bowler. Boult was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad last year. They also roped in the services of West Indies players Rovman Powell and Darren Bravo. English pacer Chris Woakes was also an expensive buy made by the franchise.

The recent form of Woakes in limited overs cricket made him a hot property in the auctions. Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile was picked up in the second session of the auctions and can be tipped to be a good pick too. Among the Indian players, Jharkhand batsman Ishank Jaggi stands out. Jaggi had a prolific run in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and also was instrumental in taking Jharkhand to the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy this year. Other Indian players bought by Kolkata Knight Riders are Rishi Dhawan, R. Sanjay Yadav, and Sayan Ghosh.
