On the eve of India’s Independence Day, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to convey his heartfelt wishes for all the Indian citizens. Afridi not only wished India on its 71st Independence Day but also called for peace, tolerance, and love between the two nations. The nations celebrate their Independence Days within a gap of 24 hours of each other. While Pakistan celebrated its Independence Day on Monday, August 14, India is celebrating its 71st Independence Day today.

Both the countries have been witnessing a political turmoil and conflict in the past 70 years of their relationship. And in recent times, the bilateral relations have turned sour amid continuous ceasefire violations and political unrest between the neighbors.

Thus, keeping aside all boundaries and conflicts, Afridi’s gesture seems to have touched many people’s hearts. Afridi took to his Twitter handle and posted, “Happy Independence Day India! No way to change neighbours, let’s work towards peace, tolerance and love. Let humanity prevail.# HopeNotOut,”

The all-rounder’s tweet also received instant attention, and almost everyone including people from both the nations were appreciating his tweet and calling for love tweet the two neighbours.

In 2009 Pakistan cricket suffered a major setback when a terrorist group attacked Sri Lankan players leaving a few of them injured. Since then, there hasn’t been much international cricket in the country with only Zimbabwe touring the nation for a limited-overs series in 2015.

SL to visit Pakistan?

However, recently the Sri Lankan Cricket committee has revealed that there will be no hesitation to travel to Pakistan to play at least one Twenty20 International in Lahore, provided all logistical and operational plans fall in place.

The decision comes as a major boost to Pakistan, who are working hard to bring back international cricket to the country. PCB chairman Najam Sethi and the Cricket Board are working towards organizing a Pakistan vs World XI series next month to assure other nations about the safety and security of players and officials.
