Earlier, Shakib took paternity leave from the New Zealand tour to be with his pregnant wife.

Back in January, Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh all-round cricketer, revealed that he’s set to become a father to a third child with his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir. He uploaded a picture where he can be seen kissing his beloved’s baby bump with closed eyes.

The veteran sounded excited about the ‘new beginning’ and ‘new addition’ to their family in the year 2021. Thereafter, Shakib went to the United States of America (USA) to be with his pregnant wife. It has now been learned that the Shishir has given birth to a baby boy.

As per reports in BDcrictime, both the mother and the child are in good health. Earlier in April 2020, Shakib became father to her second girl child and named her Errum Hasan. Shakib and Shishir tied the knots back in 2012 and their first child, Alaina, was born three years later.

Shakib Al Hasan takes a break from New Zealand tour

Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) granted Shakib paternity leave to be with his wife in the USA. He won’t be a part of the Tigers’ upcoming tour of New Zealand. Akram Khan, the BCB cricket operations chairman, put forth the development.

Shakib was said to have spoken to BCB chief Nazmul Hasan Papon before taking the call. “Shakib is not going [to New Zealand]. He applied [for leave] to stay with his [expecting] wife. After talking to the board president, we granted him leave,” Khan was quoted as saying.

Shakib has also been granted permission to miss Bangladesh’s Test series against Sri Lanka. Rather, the board allowed him to take part in the entirety of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the IPL auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) brought Shakib for INR 3.20 crores.

“Shakib wants to play T20s at the moment. He doesn’t want to play Tests. He has asked for a leave for the IPL. We also don’t want to force someone who doesn’t want to play Tests, which is why the board has decided to grant him the leave,” Khan said.

Shakib has had a few injury concerns as well of late. He missed a part of Bangladesh’s first Test against the West Indies after which he couldn’t take part in the second Test.
