Veteran Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is all set for the 2017 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He has been signed by the Jamaica Tallawahs for the popular T20 tournament. Clearly, he has his goals set ahead of the tournament and wishes to give his best for his outfit. Shakib is currently the number one ranked all-rounder in the shortest format of the game.

Needless to add that the Jamaica camp have a lot of hopes riding on the services of Shakib Al Hasan. When it comes to the shortest format, he is a key asset to the team that he represents. The solitary reason behind this being his ability to contribute in all departments of the game. It is this attribute that has made him a hot property in the T20 leagues around the world.

Shakib is a globetrotter when it comes to T20 cricket. He has played in the IPL, the PSL, the BPL, and the CPL. Recently, as per the quotes in bdcrictime.com, the veteran all-rounder cited the key difference between all the above stated leagues.

CPL over IPL?

In his observation, he feels that the IPL gives fewer chances to the overseas players. This is due to the fact that there are several overseas signings in the IPL. On the contrary, tournaments like the CPL have very few overseas players. Hence, they are guaranteed to be getting more opportunities than they would get in the IPL.

“In IPL there are 10 foreign players in every team. Competition for places is much harder there. Even if you do well in one match you might not feature in the next game due to team combination situations,” quoted Shakib Al Hasan.

“At the CPL and PSL at least four players stay fixed in the squad. They don’t change the line-up unless it’s very necessary. I do not see much difference other than the one I stated. The environment and quality of cricket is good at every place,” he conceded further.
