To train for the upcoming tri-series in Ireland, the Bangladesh cricket team will travel to Sussex for a 10-day training camp. The tri-series, to be played between Ireland, New Zealand and Bangladesh, is a preparation for the teams before the all-important Champions Trophy in June.

However, due to IPL commitments, Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman shall not travel with the team to Sussex for the training camp, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s media operations committee chairman Akram Khan confirmed yesterday.

The two Bangladeshi players are an integral part of the IPL. While Shakib plays for the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders, Mustafizur represents the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. The duo, however, will resume national duty will when the tri-series begins.

“Shakib and Mustafizur will not be joining the team for the 10-day training camp in Sussex,” Khan informed. “They will be busy with the Indian Premier League during that time, so they will meet up with the squad in Ireland.”

The team’s foreign staff, on the other hand, including head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, took a leave after Sri Lanka tour and will join the team again in Sussex.

Shakib al Hasan has been a very integral part of the KKR set-up. He flew from Sri Lanka to India yesterday but did not play against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday. He joined the KKR ranks in the year 2011 and was brought again by the franchise before the 2014 season. When Shakib in the playing eleven, Shakib forms an important cog in the KKR middle-order and gives the captain a dependable spin bowling option.

Fizz, on the other hand, played a major role in Sunriser’s maiden IPL title in 2016. He is remembered for his lethal yorker to KKR all-rounder Andre Russell. He was awarded the Emerging Player award in IPL 2016 – his maiden foray.
