Shane Warne has a nightmare about playing for England

Legendary Australian bowler, Shane Warne is sure to tickle quite a few funny bones with the recent post that he’s shared on his social media handles. He previously had to wear an England jersey for an entire day after having lost a bet. He re-posted the same picture while relating a nightmare that he had about playing for England against his home team, Australia in the Ashes series.

Warne made a witty post about having woken up grumpy on the day. The reason for his sour mood was the horrific nightmare that he’d had the previous night, of having to play against his own nation, for arch-rivals, England in the Ashes. An Ashes series is traditionally worth five Tests, hosted in turn by England and Australia and an extremely competitive event for both the teams.

Warne loses a bet to Ganguly

Shane Warne had previously lost a bet against former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly during the Champions Trophy, 2017. Ganguly had claimed that England was a better side and subsequently, the Aussie had challenged him to a bet. As per the terms of the bet, the latter would have to wear a Three Lions jersey for a whole day and also buy Ganguly dinner if his team lost.

Warne lost the bet when England beat Australia by 40 runs in the group stage match in Birmingham. The Australian spin master was a sport and decided to honour the bet after his team lost. He tweeted a picture of him wearing the jersey, soon after.

Warne’s nightmare

Recently, Warne re-posted the picture wearing the English jersey on Instagram and claimed in good humour to have had a nightmare about having to play for England in the Ashes. The rivalry between Australia and England in the Ashes series is well-known to all cricket lovers. Understandably, to have to even dream of playing against his nation for the arch-rivals would be regarded as a ‘nightmare’ by Warne.
