Shane Warne has criticized Australia’s below-par performance in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka which they lost by 82 runs. The leg-spinning legend isn’t happy with the current team composition and feels that there aren’t enough ‘specialists’ in the team.

Warne made his opinion felt through a tweet which he posted yesterday.

He wrote,” Not happy with Aust’s test or one-day team. Bits and pieces players who aren’t good enough at either are not the answer – specialists are !”

Australian skipper Steve Smith agreed with the Warne’s opinion and said that he’s also looking at using the same approach of having more specialists for the Test series against India.

“We have to continue to try and find a way to have success in these conditions, and we haven’t been good enough,” he said.

“We’ve got plenty of specialists. We’ve obviously got a few all-rounders.

“But I think they do a good job as well. Shane’s entitled to his opinion, but I think we’ve got the right guys here to get the job done.”

Australia has had a very dismal time Island nation thus far. The Aussies, who entered the series as the number one ranked Test team in the world, inflicted a demoralising 3-0 series loss. This embarrassing show resulted in them getting dethroned from the top spot and slipping to the third position behind Pakistan and India.

The ODI series began on a rather positive note as they registered their first win of the series by defeating the hosts in the 1st game of the 5 match ODI series at Colombo. However, things again turned ugly for the Australians after the Sri Lankans yet again dominated them and clinched the second game very comfortably at the same venue.
