With Australia’s tour of India inching ever so close to the passing day, it seems quite clear that Shane Watson has been seeming a bit skeptical on the ordeal of sending in a side that has the extremes of little to a lot of experience in the subcontinent conditions.

However, while the buildup continues, it seems quite clear that the Watson has stated that Glenn Maxwell could possibly be one of those players who makes a difference for the Aussies as they make their way out to India to secure a win in the series for the first time since 2004. Maxwell is known for his aggressive batting display in recent times, something that has set him aside as perhaps one of the best T20 cricketer in the world.

However, the fact is that this sort of batting acumen could very well be required when the tour begins. Maxwell has been one of those players who has also been successful against spin, a trait that would prove to be useful on the upcoming tour as well. At the moment, the Australians are currently practicing their spin batting trade in the United Arab Emirates as the tour beckons over the horizon. Watson also believed that Maxwell could be the X-Factor in the grand scheme of things as well.

Speaking about the 28-year-old, Watson said: “You can never take that for granted, that he’s a really skilled and smart cricketer hitting balls in (open) areas even in four-day and Test cricket. He certainly provides a huge x-factor and there’s no doubt once he gets an opportunity, especially with a (strong) batting order around him where he can play with the total freedom he will turn games on their head pretty quickly.”
