The Indian Premier League (IPL)  2018 ended with CSK winning the title against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). CSK fast bowler Shardul Thakur who is primarily known for his consistency with the ball, played a crucial cameo of 15 runs off just 5 balls in the first Qualifier in the last couple of overs of the chase to help his side win the match. He also holds an interesting record with the bat in School cricket

In the first qualifier, the three-time champions were chasing 140 runs to march into the final, however, they lost early wickets and reduced themselves to a troublesome situation. CSK opener Faf du Plessis was the lone warrior for his side battling the SRH bowlers. In the final two overs, CSK required 23 runs and Thakur smacked 15 runs in that 19th over after which du Plessis hit a first ball six in the final over to claim a sensational victory.

Thakur smashes six sixes in an over

The Mumbai fast bowler has a batting achievement to his name of striking six sixes in a single over during a School Tournament. The instance is from 2006, a 15-year old Shardul powered six monstrous strikes out of the park while playing for his school Swami Vivekanand against S Radhakrishnan School in the Plate Division Harris School Tournament in Mumbai. He did that against a spin bowler, Vishal Dhruv on the second day of the match.

In that school match, Thakur played a remarkable knock of 160 runs off just 73 balls. The right-handed batsman clobbered 10 sixes and 20 fours during that inning. Interestingly, in a serious revelation after the win against SRH in Qualifier 1, the 26-year-old revealed that he always was confident about his abilities to deliver with the bat as well.
