Sharjeel Khan- the tearaway southpaw- is all set to make his comeback to active cricket after half of his five-year ban was suspended by the anti-corruption tribunal of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Anti-Tribunal unit who had, in the past, found the left-hander guilty of breaching five clauses of the PCB’s anti-corruption code had backdated half of his suspension earlier this year.
However, before Sharjeel Khan makes his return to domestic cricket, the left-handed opener will have to lecture his Pakistan Cricket team members ahead of the historic Test series against Sri Lanka on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption code as the last part of his on-going rehabilitation program.
According to a Pakistan Cricket Board source, Sharjeel will not only meet his teammates but also share his tumultuous experience with them, besides also lecturing the Anti-Corruption code clause. “Sharjeel will not only meet with the players but also share his experience with them and lecture them on why players need to adhere to the Anti-Corruption code clauses,” a reliable source in the PCB said, as quoted by Scroll.in.
Sharjeel Khan will return to active cricket
Before he got suspended for breaching five clauses of the Anti-Corruption code and his involvement in the 2017 Pakistan Super League spot-fixing scandal, the southpaw had played 25 One-day Internationals, 15 Twenty 20 Internationals and one Test for the national side.
While playing for the Islamabad United, Sharjeel was found guilty by the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Tribunal along with the likes of Shahzaib Hasan, Muhammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Muhammad Nawaz and Khalid Latif, all of whom are still serving their respective ban.
Sharjeel will return to active cricket following the completion of the final phase of his rehabilitation program and could well be one of the hottest properties in the draft, as reckoned by former cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar and Rashid Latif.
“Sharjeel will be one of the hot properties in the upcoming PSL draft and every franchise will be looking to get him.He is a strong player and if he is allowed to play by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), then there should no argument against his return.” Latif was quoted as saying on his Youtube channel Caught Behind.
