‘She’s not that dumb, not me either’ – Michael Clarke on the ‘flushed’ diamond ring rumours with Lara Bingle

Michael Clarke, the former Australian cricketer, has dismissed the rumours that his ex-fiancée Lara Bingle flushed her $2,00,000 down the toilet after their break-up way back in 2010. Their relationship came to the fore when the 39-year-old Clarke went back to Sydney from a tour in New Zealand after a nude photo of Lara was released to the press.

It was speculated that the picture was taken during Lara’s affair with AFL player Brandan Fevola quite a few years ago. Regarding the flushed ring, on Monday, April 27, Clarke was clear cut in saying that neither he or Lara would be ‘dumb’ enough to get rid of an expensive accessory.

“I know that people don’t like to believe me. How many times do I have to say it? I am dumb, but I’m not that dumb. I’m not flushing any ring down any toilet at any stage. [Lara’s] not that dumb. She’s not flushing any ring either. Absolute made-up rubbish,” Clarke was quoted as saying in Big Sports Breakfast.

Previously, in a press conference, Clarke confirmed that he and Lara have decided to separate. Thereafter, reports of Lara flushing the ring at the duo’s Bondi apartment started doing the rounds. Other versions of the story said that it was Michael, who disposed off the precious ring. Clarke also revealed the reasons behind the persistence of the rumour for long.

It was because as per him, a plumbing truck was pictured outside their house at the day of the alleged flushing. However, Clarke was of the opinion that a number of people resided in that place and anyone could have called the plumber.

After her break-up with Lara, Clarke’s relations with his mates hasn’t panned out smoothly. A couple of years after he ending his engagement to Lara, Clarke tied the knots with Kyly Boldy. Later, he also had a daughter, Kesley Lee, along with her.

However, after seven long years following their marriage, the couple took the stern step of separation back in February. In the meantime, after separating from Clarke, Lara got hitched to Sam Worthington, the popular Hollywood actor, and also has two sons, Racer and Rocket.
