Shikhar Dhawan is renowned for his unflinching style of batting, both at the domestic and international level. He has been a part of the Indian team for quite a while now and is currently their stalwart at the top of the order. The left-handed batsman has scored runs across the world and has decimated the best of bowling attacks with his wide array of strokes.

Moreover, he has been a successful Test batsman as well. He forayed into the format with a swashbuckling century versus Australia at Mohali back in 2013. The Delhi-born cricketer has been in and out of the team for quite a few times, but hasn’t allowed the rough phases mar his mental sanctity. The 32-year old recently played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL).

He commenced with some impressive knocks, but an elbow injury versus the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) meant that he was ruled out for a couple of matches. He looked a tad out of touch in his comeback but found form in the business end. In 16 matches, the southpaw notched 497 runs with a top score of 92* against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Dhawan’s instrumental skills

He got two  decent starts in the playoffs, however, couldn’t convert them into substantial knocks. His next assignment will be during India’s tour of England which starts next month. Apart from his prowess on the cricket pitch, Dhawan is also an excellent player of flute and has been honing his skills in the field for the last three years.

The Indian cricketer recently uploaded a video on Instagram where he can be seen gracefully playing the musical instrument. He also urged everyone to pursue their passion irrespective of their age. Here is what he wrote

“Hi guys. Wanted to share something that is very dear to my heart and is a different side to me. For the last 3 years I have been learning the flute which is my favourite instrument. I have had the privilege of taking lessons with my Guru Venugopal Ji. Today I look back and see my journey and my achievement, starting from a single note to now being able to play a raag.

This is to demonstrate that at any age one can pursue their passion and also get self-satisfaction. I encourage all young and old to find their passion and go towards it. I still have a long way to go but I’m glad I have started”
