Shimron Hetmyer has become a father for the first time and he broke the good news on Tuesday morning (May 10). The left-handed batter took to his Instagram story and shared an adorable video of himself playing with his toddler. The post went viral in no time and wishes are pouring in for the left-handed batter from different corners. Notably, the left-handed batter also expressed love for his wife in the post.

“Hey world welcome out bundle of joy, tequila_goddess_nu I love you so much,” read the caption of the story. It must be noted that Hetmyer has temporarily left the Rajasthan Royals camp midway through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 to attend the birth of his first child. He flew off to Guyana on Sunday (May 8) and now that his little munchkin has arrived, the dasher is expected to join the squad soon.

Meanwhile, Hetmyer has been in staggering form in this season’s IPL and his numbers narrate the entire story. So far, he has scored 291 runs in 11 outings with his average and strike rate being over 70 and 160 respectively. The left-handed batter has been designated the finisher’s role and he has been nothing but brilliant.

Besides giving his side fiery finishes, Hetmyer has also done the repair work at times when the top order has collapsed. Hence, he has been instrumental to RR’s success this season. Having won seven of their 11 games, the Men in Pink are currently third in the points table and are looking all but set to seal a playoff berth. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen when Hetmyer rejoins the RR camp as his absence for long can hamper the inaugural-season champions.

Meanwhile, Hetmyer has not been named in West Indies ODI squad for Netherlands and Pakistan tour. He has been given a break to spend some time with his newborn baby after the conclusion of IPL 2022.
