Derbyshire cricketer Shiv Thakor has been arrested by the police following charges of indecent exposure by two women. The 23-year old was suspended by Derbyshire on full pay last week after the allegations came to the notice of the club. The all-rounder was involved in the incident in June while being away from club duties.
The suspension was subjected to further investigation by the police. Thakor was being shown around the estate by two female estate agents. In one of the houses, Thakor was allegedly found in a nude state, having misinterpreted signals from the pair of ladies. He was later reported by the duo and it is been said that the CCTV footage of the event has been captured.
Tharor had played for the junior Lions
Thakor is a former England U-19 cricketer and made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 2011. After playing for his home county for three years, Thakor rejected a new contract and joined Derbyshire in 2014. The 23-year old appeared in 6 first-class games for Derbyshire this season scoring 328 runs at 32.80 with a highest score of 132, his only 50 plus score in the season. With the ball, he scalped 6 sticks at a high average of 50.33. His One-Day form was way better, having scored 280 runs in 7 innings at 40 including a hundred and a fifty. He topped the wickets charts for his club, recording 13 wickets in 8 games at 24.53. Due to his suspension last week, Thakor was unable to take part in the NatWest Blast T20.
“The club has been advised that one of our players, Shiv Thakor, has been arrested by police investigating allegations concerning the player when he was not on duty with the club,” Derbyshire said in a statement.
“In consultation with the player’s representatives, the player continues to be suspended on full pay pending the outcome of the investigations.
For legal reasons, the club is unable to comment further at this stage” as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Decent cricketer in domestic cricket
In a 6-year long career in the county circuit, Thakor had played in 51 first class games scoring 2571 runs at 37.80. His List ‘A’ average is a tad below the norm: 24.02 off 47 games. As a medium pacer, Thakor fared better in List A cricket, taking 51 wickets in 47 games at 28 compared to 57 at 43.01 in first-class cricket.
