Babar Azam has been the most consistent batsman for Pakistan especially in the shortest format of the game. He has been piling on the runs in the last six T20 Internationals in the UAE against Australia and New Zealand. Also, after reaching 48 in the third and last match of the series, the other night, he went past Virat Kohli to become the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in the T20Is.
Many criticise Babar for his strike-rate but he is the one who sets the platform for the more flamboyant batsmen to come and go berserk. To add to it, he scored 79 runs off jut 58 deliveries with seven fours and a couple of huge maximums at a strike-rate of 136.
He achieved the amazing feat one innings fewer than the Indian captain who is celebrating his 30th birthday. While Kohli reached the four-figure in the T20Is in 27 outings, Babar Azam did it in 26. He now has 1031 runs in 26 matches in the format at an impeccable average of 54.26,
Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar has congratulated the 24-year-old for his achievement in the T20Is. He also called Babar as super consistent and hoped that he continues to scale new heights in his career. “Congratulations to @babarazam258 on a new record, fastest to 1000 T20 runs, super consistent in this format! #PAKvNZ,” he wrote in his tweet.

Pakistan register yet another whitewash
Pakistan, on the other hand, registered yet another whitewash by easily winning the third and final game of the T20I series. Riding on a 79-run knock from Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafee’s half-century, they went on to post 166/3, their highest score of the last six matches, after 20 overs.
New Zealand, in response, were well placed with 96/2 in the 13th over. But the fall of Kane Williamson after scoring 60 off 36 deliveries triggered a sensational collapse as they were bundled out for 119 runs to hand the game to the Men in Green by 47 runs.
