Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has finally announced the birth of his child via twitter. Akhtar, who called it a day all those years ago in 2007 has become resigned to life as a family man and now has been blessed with a child.

His first tweet, rather appropriately, was accompanied by a photograph of his child being draped in a towel. The caption also appropriately read: “The most prized catch my hands have ever, ever held on to….what a feeling!!!!!”

The 41-year old is renowned worldwide for his impressive bowling acumen, something that has seen him clock the so called ‘Everest’ of fast bowling. His twitter account also reminds everyone of his impressive bowling acumen with the name of his twitter handle reading 100 mph.

As Osman Samiuddin once wrote, it would be rather ridiculous to judge Shoaib Akhtar on the numbers he has generated over the years. Of course, the numbers are not unimpressive, but, he will be remembered as someone who terrorized the batsmen with raw pace. This was perhaps the reason why Pakistan gave him a massive rope and as many chances as they did.

A follow-up tweet from Akhtar also went on to read: “Guys, am ecstatic to share that me & Begum have been blessed with a healthy baby boy just now. Oh what a feeling! Thank u Allah Pak.”

He was also congratulated by the likes of Waqar Younis, his former partner in crime: “Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby @shoaib100mph My prayers are with you & your family. Welcome to the of parenthood. #DaddyG”
