Former Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar has lashed out at former Australia skipper Ian Chappell who went on to criticize the Pakistan side that was thrashed 3-0 at the hands of Australia. Chappell had made a few strong statements regarding some of the performances of the Pakistanis and had also called for the sacking of the skipper Misbah-ul-Haq

Chappell has been quite outward in the manner in which he has decimated a lot of people in recent times. However, the fact of the matter remains that he has been right about most of the things that he has said. However, some of the blunt comments have not gon down too well in the media as well. This also has seen Chappell urge the Pakistan Cricket Board to sack the skipper stating that his captaincy was quite ordinary and that he ought to announce his retirement as soon as possible in order to let someone with a future play.

However, the former Pakistani bowler concurred with the statements made by the older of the Chappell brothers stating that he did indeed agree with the fact that Pakistan did lack grit. Yet, he lashed out at Chappell a bit later stating that he did not agree that Pakistan should not have come in the first place.

A tweet from Akhtar read: “Pak lacked grit: Chappell. I agree but not coming 2 Australia no remedy. England never won World Cup but doesn’t mean they shouldn’t participate.”

Shoaib Akhtar also went on to add that this was the same Pakistan side that drew to England earlier last year. A follow-up tweet from him read: “Agree partially with Ian Chappell that Pakistan lacked grit but the same team drew 2-2 vs England less dan a year ago.”
