Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar is definitely the most fiery pacer of all time with a endless run up that was a nightmare for every batsmen. Akhtar defined the true meaning of the words ‘fast bowler’ with his bullet speed deliveries that were sometimes unplayable. His deadly short balls have injured a handful of batsmen while his lethal yorkers have rattled the woodwork many a times. Popularly known as the ‘Rawalpinidi Express’, Shoaib Akhtar celebrated his wickets in his trademark style.

Akhtar followed every wicket of his with his iconic ‘flying’ celebration which saw him run with his arms up wide like a bird. 6 years after playing his last International game for Pakistan, the rampant fast bowler revealed the reason behind his dramatic celebration. Taking to social media platform Twitter, the 41 year old said that he always wanted to be the pilot of a fighter plane. He also stated that his undying love for jets is the reason behind what followed whenever Shoaib got his man.

He had tweeted a picture of a Pakistani jet plane and expressed his love for the beautiful machine. Shoaib mentioned that the sound of a jet plane gets him excited like a kid. He wrote “This fab machine was soaring in the Sky over my house along with miraj & f16 & da sounds of jets makes me go crazy like a kid .. Love PAK.”
Shoaib Akhtar was one of those bowlers whom you can love or hate but you just cannot ignore. After making his ODI debut in 1998 against Zimbabwe he took 247 wickets in his career. As far as the Test format is concerned Akhtar picked up 178 wickets playing 46 Tests.
