Shoaib Akhtar sends a special message to Shah Rukh Khan on Twitter

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar sent a sweet message to the IPL team Kolkata Knight Rider’s principal owner Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh, a Bollywood super star has been the owner of the KKR franchise since its inception in 2008. And controversial fast bowler Akhtar was one of the cricketers to represent the team in its inaugural year.

Akhtar posted a picture on Twitter, where he can be seen Shah Rukh post a thumping win in 2008. The picture was put on Twitter with the quote: “Some days you win, Some days you lose! That’s life, stay humble when you are at top.”

The picture is from the match between KKR and Delhi Daredevils, where Sourav Ganguly led Kolkata managed to score just 133/6 in 20 overs batting first but despite that, won the game by 23 runs following a match-winning performance by the Pakistani fast bowler. Akhtar picked up the wickets of the top four batsmen- Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, AB de Villiers and Manoj Tiwary.

A bitter-sweet bond

The pacer finished with figures of 4/11 and was awarded the man of the match.  After the game, Akhtar said, “I’m just there to enjoy my game. I’ve got no point to prove to anyone. I’ve had a stressful few months and I’d like to thank everybody in the dressing room. Shah Rukh has been like a brother giving me a lot of advice. All the guys played really well.” I just love it sometimes when bowlers have their say, especially in this format of the game. Shoaib was back at a venue where he has tasted success before and it was only fitting that he was named Man of the Match.”

The Rawalpindi Express was not required to bowl his 4th over, as KKR sealed a thrilling victory. He had earlier criticized Shah Rukh for not backing him enough following that performance.
