Shubman Gill’s father jubilated over his son’s performance

Parents are the ones who sacrifice their own desires only to see their children grow and taste success. They are the happiest when their young ones scale heights their life, more so when their children represent the nation in their respective fields. Shubman Gill performed exceptionally in the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup and emerged as the Player of the Tournament.

He emerged as a bright prospect for the team under the tutelage of the legendary Rahul Dravid. Quite expectantly, his parents were delighted with their son’s performance in the prestigious event. Lakhwinder Singh Gill, his father expressed his elation while interacting with the media and hailed his son’s achievement as a proud moment for Punjab, Shubman’s hometown.

“We are elated at the performance of our son and the whole Indian team which convincingly defeated Australia in the final match today. It is a proud moment for us and it is also proud moment for entire Punjab and country that our team won the final match. Last time, we briefly talked to Shubman after the semi-final match and then he told us that he will give his best and the team will bring the World Cup,” Gill jested.

Shubman’s father also spoke about how he and his wife tracked their son’s performance throughout the tournament. “I had bought a big LCD for my father and mother who lives in Jalalabad in Fazilka and my father saw all the matches while waking up at night,” Lakhwinder mentioned.

He also talked about their initial days of playing the game and the steps they took to help Shubman’s career endeavour. “There were no proper sports facilities in our village in Fazilka. To provide better training to our son, we shifted to Mohali. My father and mother still live in Fazilka,” his father added.

India were clinical in the final against Australia and have beaten them comprehensively by eight wickets. Subsequently, they have been showered with accolades from every nook and corner of the cricketing fraternity.
