It is not often that Sanjay Manjrekar leaves the cricket fans impressed. On most of the occasions, the former India cricketer faces the heat for his on-air statements and comments on Twitter. But for a change, Sanjay Manjrekar has managed to win over the fans although not because of his commentating skills. In his new avatar as a singer, he left his fans mesmerised with his voice.
While the cricketer-turned-commentator remains in the news for all the wrong reasons more often than not, he has managed to win some praise from the fans with his song. Manjrekar could be seen singing the famous Bollywood song Dil Diyan Gallan sung by Atif Aslam in Salman Khan-starrer Tiger Zinda Hai. Star Sports host Seema Agarwal managed to take some time out of her busy schedule and record the song on her mobile phone.
She posted the clip on her Instagram account with the caption: “Singing in the rain @sanjaysphotos #DilDiyanGallan which means ‘words spoken from my heart’”
Manjrekar gets slammed on Twitter, Again!
Sanjay Manjrekar, nonetheless, continues to hog the limelight albeit for the reasons he would not have wanted. Recently, India star Ravindra Jadeja took to Twitter to berate the former cricketer for his controversial statement. The controversy erupted after Manjrekar’s controversial statement on Jadeja.
Manjrekar, who is a part of ICC’s commentary panel for the ongoing World Cup, had called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ player. Forgetting Jadeja’s contribution in limited-overs cricket, Manjrekar had undermined the all-rounder’s status.
“I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” Manjrekar had said.
Unimpressed with Manjrekar’s statement, Jadeja did not refrain from giving him back. Jadeja said he has heard enough of Manjrekar’s “verbal diarrhoea” as he took to Twitter to lambast the commentator. Manjrekar, who never shies away from giving it back, is yet to reply to Jadeja’s tweet.
