India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is currently in Sri Lanka featuring in the ongoing three-match T20I series against the home team. Every now and then, Hardik keeps on making it to the news either for his performances or his antics on the field. Ahead of the first T20I, the all-rounder was once again trending on social media and this time, he won the hearts of the fans with his latest gesture.

Before any international match, national anthems of both the countries is played. Accordingly, the same ritual was followed before the first T20I between India and Sri Lanka and the national anthem of the visiting side was played first according to the rules.

After India’s national anthem, hosts Sri Lanka’s anthem started playing and this is when Hardik Pandya was spotted singing it. It was surprising to see him sing the home team’s anthem non-chalantly and the fans were quick to record the video of the same as well which has gone viral on social media now.

Here’s the video:

Hardik Pandya desperate for a good show in T20Is

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya will be disappointed with his performance in the ODI series. He didn’t trouble the scorers much in the two matches that he batted and also was taken apart for runs in the few overs he bowled across three outings. His bowling skills are very crucial for India with the T20 World Cup set to be played in the UAE later this year.

His workload is being managed and Hardik hasn’t been bowling much to stay fit for the showpiece event in the UAE. However, his form with the bat is worrying for the team. In the three-match T20I series, he would love to perform at least with the bat showcasing his powerhitting skills.

As far as the first T20I is concerned, Sri Lanka opted to field after winning the toss as both the teams played two debutants each. While India handed debut caps to Prithvi Shaw and Varun Chakravarthy, Chamika Karunaratne and Charith Asalanka took the field for the first time for Sri Lanka in T20Is.
