Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is planning to send the team more frequently to Pakistan in the near future after the success of the T20I in Lahore. The third and final T20 International of the three-match series was played at Gaddafi Stadium as Pakistan came one step forward to revive international cricket in the country. The match was played under very tight security and the touring party seemed to be very happy and satisfied with the arrangements.

The visitors lost the match and were whitewashed in the shortest format as well after the drubbing they had received in the ODI series. However, the result didn’t matter in a game which was a generous helping hand provided by Sri Lankan board to the country. It would be interesting to see now if the senior players who had pulled out of the match and travel to the country after listening to the feedback from their teammates.

Team was satisfied with the extraordinary security

The chief executive of Sri Lanka Cricket Ashley de Silva said that the team was very happy with the extraordinary security arrangements and reiterated that they would like to send more teams to Pakistan. “They delivered the security they promised and we were very satisfied with all the arrangements,” he told reporters as quoted by Times of India in Colombo. He also cleared that the board would be sending the junior teams to Pakistan and then the senior team will follow as soon as possible.

“Our FTP (Future Tours Program) does not include Pakistan, but we will have one as soon as possible. We are sending our A team and an Under-19 team to play against Pakistan shortly,” he added. The captain for the T20I series for Sri Lanka Thisara Perera was also pleased with the fact that they were given the utmost respect and security in the country. “In my nine years of cricket I have never seen that level of security. I think we can play again in Pakistan,” he said.
