The Ace Australian bowler, Mitchell Starc will fly back to Australia amidst the ODI Series against Proteas to cheer his wife, Alyssa Healy, who is playing the Women’s T20 World Cup finals against India this Sunday. With the three-match series already decided in favour of the hosts, Mitchell Starc will go back home and will miss the third ODI against the rivals, South Africa.

The hosts have already won the ODI Series and whitewashing Australia would boost the confidence of the wounded SA squad. The Australian management has supported the decision of their strike bowler, saying that they do not want to deny their bowler “a once in a lifetime opportunity” to watch his better half representing Australia in a World Cup final, in front of the home support.

Mitchell Starc said as quoted by Cricket Australia, “They were extremely supportive … so, I’m very appreciative for that and very grateful that I can go back and support Alyssa, much like she was around for our 2015 World Cup win.”

“That was very special for all the boys to have their families involved so it’s a fantastic opportunity to repay that. They’ve definitely captured the support around Australia and overseas as well and hopefully, there’s a massive crowd in Melbourne on Sunday,” he further added.

Australian Women’s team defeated South African women to reach the finals of the T20 World Cup, in a rain-affected semi-final game. They will face the Indian Women’s team in the final, who defeated Australia earlier in the tournament in the group stage. The T20 World Cup finals will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground and Australia will play as favorites in the game.

For Australia, Beth Mooney is the leading run-scorer with 181 runs in 5 innings, whereas Shafali Verma is leading the charts for India, with 161 runs in 4 innings.

Meanwhile, the Indian World Cup winner, Ravi Ashwin, took to Twitter to react to the decision made by the Australian World Cup winner. With everyone praising Mitchell Starc for his decision, the Indian spinner was also all praises for his competitor. The Indian spin sensation wrote, “So refreshing to see this!! Well done”
