Former team India batter and expert Aakash Chopra has raised questions on England and their stand-in skipper Amy Jones amid the Deepti Sharma-Charlie Dean run-out incident.

The Women in Blue completed an emphatic series whitewash after handing a defeat to England in the third and final ODI match played at the Lord's Cricket Ground on September 24 (Saturday). The match went down the wire with England requiring 17 runs for victory. However, Deepti ran out Dean at the non-striker's end as she was backing up too far.

The former Indian cricketer has uploaded an old video from England's T20I encounter against India back in January 2020. The clip shows opening batter Smriti Mandhana being adjudged caught behind, but the stand-in umpires called the left-handed batter back to the crease after the replays showed that Amy Jones failed to catch the ball cleanly. Despite Jones apologizing for her on-field mishap, she received a lot of criticism.

Coming back to the run-out of Dean, the English fans and supporters did not like the way the match ended, but the Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur backed Deepti for her actions and said that what she did was within the laws of the game.

"I thought you will ask about the first nine wickets because they were also not easy to take. I don't think we have done something new. What I feel is, that shows your awareness of what the batters are doing. I will back my player because I don't think she has done something which is not in the ICC rules," said Harmanpreet during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Harmanpreet also paid gratitude to veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami who ended her international career on Saturday.

"I just wanted to thank her. She'll always be there for us. She's just a call away. We're really thankful that we got a chance to play with her. She is my go-to person. During my low time, I would always discuss what to do and she was always guiding me."
