Jasprit Bumrah repeatedly says 'Thank You' to Shaheen Afridi after receiving gift, fans react

On Sunday, September 10, Shaheen Afridi presented Jasprit Bumrah with a special gift as the star Indian pacer has recently become a father for the first time. Bumrah was quite overwhelmed upon receiving the gift and he was seen repeatedly thanking his opposite number for his sweet gesture.

India and Pakistan have had a tumultuous relationship over the years. We have seen some heated moments taking place on the cricket field when the two Asian giants have locked horns. However, off the field, the players share a good camaraderie and Shaheen's latest gesture shows that cricket can be a great medium to encourage friendship between the two countries.

After play on Sunday was stopped owing to incessant rains and it got shifted to the reserve day (Monday, September 11), Shaheen went up to Bumrah and handed him a gift and congratulated the first-time father. Bumrah and his wife Sanjana Ganesan were recently blessed with a baby boy. The 29-year-old pacer took to Instagram to share the awesome news with his fans and well-wishers.

"Our little family has grown, and our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning, we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah, into the world. We are over the moon and can't wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it," Bumrah wrote in his Instagram post.

Bumrah had left the squad for a brief while to attend the birth of his first child. He missed the Group A fixture versus Nepal but returned to play against Pakistan in the Super Four stage. Interestingly, the Gujarat pacer has not had a bowl in this edition of the Asia Cup thus far. He returned to international cricket after 11 months during the T20I series against Ireland and led the team commendably to a series win. Bumrah will be crucial for India's chances in the Asia Cup and the subsequent ODI World Cup.
