India suffered a shock defeat in the first T20I of the five-match series against the West Indies as they fell short by four runs while chasing 150 to win. It seemed that Hardik Pandya's men had the match in their grasp with only 37 runs needed off the last five overs with six wickets in hand. However, some tactful bowling from Jason Holder and co. and Harakiri from India helped the hosts eke out a thrilling win to set the series up beautifully.
The second T20I is set to be played on Sunday, August 6 at Providence Stadium, Guyana. Some cricket enthusiasts have called for Yashasvi Jaiswal's debut in the upcoming fixture in place of Ishan Kishan, who has struggled to live up to his potential in T20Is. Aakash Chopra, however, feels that the Mumbai batter will have to wait for his chance as Ishan might be backed by the team management for another game. The former Delhi batter also suggested that India should stick to the same batting order in the second T20I.
"Can there be a change from the Indian team's viewpoint? It has been a point of discussion that Sanju Samson should come at No. 3, and SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) should be moved to No. 4, Tilak Varma to No. 5 or No. 6 and Hardik (Pandya) at No. 5," Aakash Chopra said while previewing the second T20I on his YouTube channel.
"Why should you do that? It's going fine the way it is. In my opinion, there isn't a lot of scope for change. Only one batter is sitting outside, that is Yashasvi Jaiswal. You want to play Yashasvi Jaiswal but where will he play?"
'Should you change the team after one match?' - Aakash Chopra predicts India to stick to the same playing XI
The former India opener reckons that it wouldn't be correct to change personnel based on just one game unless the pitch is considerably different or there are some injury concerns.
"Should you change the team after one match, unless you see the pitch and it has a lot of grass, so you play all fast bowlers, or else it is an extremely turning pitch, so you drop a fast bowler? Other than that, why would you make a change in the XI? So if everybody is fit and available for selection, I feel India will play an identical team. I am not even saying almost identical. The team that played in the last match, the same team can play here."
