MS Dhoni was once again seen at his vintage best as he played a blistering cameo of 20 off nine deliveries against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday, May 10 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The CSK captain ripped apart Khaleel Ahmed during the 19th over of the innings and hammered him for 19 runs.

During the action-packed over, Dhoni clobbered two sixes and a four against the left-arm seamer which was appreciated by his daughter Ziva and wife Sakshi from the stands. As the ‘Captain Cool’ pulled Khaleel for a maximum over deep mid-wicket on the third ball of the over, Ziva was spotted clapping and giving high-fives to Sakshi Dhoni in the stands.

Coming back to the match, Dhoni’s whirlwind knock was finally ended holed out to long on against Mitchell Marsh during the final over of the innings. Courtesy of his splendid knock, CSK posted 167/8 in their allotted 20 overs on a track that has been assisting the spinners.

Earlier in the innings, DC’s spinners Kuldeep Yadav (1/28), Axar Patel (2/27), and Lalit Yadav (1/34, 3 overs) spun a web around CSK’s batters as they did not allow any major partnership tduring the middle overs. They kept on chipping away with the wickets with CSK batters failing to come to terms with the slowness of the wicket. However, Cameos from Ruturaj Gaikwad (24 off 18), Shivam Dube (25 off 12), Ambati Rayudu (23 off 17), Ravindra Jadeja (21 off 16) and Dhoni helped their side cross the 160-run mark.

In the second innings, Delhi got off to the worst possible start as they lost the prized scalp of David Warner in the first over itself as the DC captain departed for a duck getting caught at short cover. Delhi further lost big wickets of Philip Salt (17 off 11) and Mitchell Marsh (5 off 4).
