In yet another nail-biting finish in IPL 2023, saw Lucknow Super Giants defeat Mumbai Indians by a margin of just five runs. With 11 runs needed off the final over for MI, Mohsin Khan was given the responsibility for defending the target by Krunal Pandya and he delivered successfully as he conceded only five runs to help LSG win a do-or-die game and stay alive in the race for a spot in the playoffs.
Interestingly enough, Mohsin had an expensive first over where he was taken for 13 runs courtesy of some terrific hitting by Ishan Kishan. So, defending 10 runs against MI batters, Tim David and Cameron Green was indeed an astonishing feat.
The former pacer, who was renowned for his death bowling in the IPL, heaped praises on Mohsin and expressed his admiration for the composure and patience displayed by the left-arm bowler in the penultimate over. The 39-year-old backed his statement by saying that even an experienced bowler would have found it difficult under the circumstances and deemed Mohsin as a potential star.
"I’m impressed by the composure and patience shown by Mohsin Khan in that last over. Not an easy task even for an experienced bowler. Saw some really good performances from him in the last season as well. Definitely a one for the future," said Malinga on Twitter.
They would have had to amputate my arm: Mohsin
Meanwhile, speaking about his injury, the 24-year-old made a shocking revelation that the level of his injury was so much severe that the doctor even told him that they would have to amputate his arm had Mohsin not taken treatment timely for his medical condition.
"It was a medical related thing. I still get scared thinking about it. The doctor told me that if I was late by one month, we would have had to amputate your arm," Mohsin stated.
It is worth mentioning that Mohsin Khan dedicated his special performance to his ailing father. As per the pacer, his father has been in the ICU in a critical medical situation. Hence, the Lucknow pacer took inspiration to play and perform to make his father proud. Now speaking of Lucknow Super Giants, to push their case for the playoffs, they will now clash with the Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens on Saturday, May 20.
