Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar along with his wife, Kyoko Jaishankar, met UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty at 10 Downing Street to extend Diwali wishes on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jaishankar met Sunak during his five-day official visit to the United Kingdom.
During the visit, Jaishankar gifted a statue of Ganesha and a cricket bat signed by veteran India batter Virat Kohli. He also shared a couple of photos of the meeting. The official handle of the UK PM also posted pictures from their meeting on Diwali.
“Delighted to call on Prime Minister @RishiSunak on #Diwali Day. Conveyed the best wishes of PM @narendramodi. India and UK are actively engaged in reframing the relationship for contemporary times. Thank Mr and Mrs Sunak for their warm reception and gracious hospitality,” Jaishankar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

India set to take on New Zealand in first semifinal
Team India, who have had a forgettable campaign in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 are all set to take on New Zealand in the first semifinal. The all-important match will be contested at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. India finished the league stage as the table toppers with 8 points. India's final game was against the Netherlands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Men in Blue outplayed Scott Edwards and Co. by 160 runs. Batting first after winning the toss, India posted a mammoth 410 runs, their first 400-plus score in the ongoing competition. The two-time champions then restricted the Dutch team by 250 runs in 47.5 overs.
