England opener Phil Salt helped his team make a record in final ODI against Ireland of the three-match series. Ireland won the toss and chose to bowl in Bristol as English openersSalt and Will Jacks took them to cleaners.

In the opening over of the match, bowled by Mark Adair, Salt accomplished a unique feat as he struck three boundaries in the first three balls and followed it up with a six. Consequently, England's total score after the first over reached 19, establishing a new record for scoring the highest runs in the first over of their ODI innings.

Salt skillfully dispatched the first ball, which had some width, with a cut shot behind point for four runs. On the second ball, Adair bowled a good length ball outside off, and Salt elegantly punched it on the up, beating the diving fielder at extra cover for another boundary.

Adair's third delivery was a short ball aimed at Salt's hip, but the batter pulled it wide of fine leg for yet another four. For the fourth ball, Adair opted for a short delivery once again, and Salt executed a half-swivel before powerfully pulling the ball over mid-wicket for a massive six.

As a result of Salt's impressive performance, England's total score reached 19 runs after the first over, setting a new record for the highest runs scored in the opening over of their ODI innings.

England secured the series 1-0 after defeating their opponents in the second ODI. The first and third games of the series ended in no result due to rain. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated ODI World Cup is scheduled to commence on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand.

Recently, England's full-strength team played against New Zealand and emerged victorious in both the ODI and T20 series. In another recent development, Harry Brook earned a spot in the World Cup squad after delivering exceptional performances with the bat. He replaced Jason Roy in the squad.
