In the penultimate over of the first innings in the ongoing match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants of IPL 2023, a massive controversy took shape when the third umpire Yeshwant Barde reversed a no ball decision of the on-field umpire.

Even though the ball clearly looked above the waist height of the batter, the third umpire decided to reverse the decision which made the SRH players confused in the middle. Heinrich Klaasen was spotted talking to the third umpire following the decision but nothing materialised.

Taking a dig at Hyderabad over the incident, Lucknow Super Giants posted a tweet stating that not every ball will be called a no ball. They faced a lot of backlash on the social media platform but some fans also showed their support for the tweet.

“@SunRisers har baar no ball nahi milta,” LSG tweeted.

Home team posts 182 runs in the first innings

Batting first, opener Anmolpreet Singh gave a brilliant start as the 25-year-old hit 36 runs off 27 deliveries. However, his opening partner Abhisekh Sharma once again failed to live up to his potential but batting at number three, Rahul Tripathi chipped in well with 20 runs off 13 deliveries.

However, the middle order soon collapsed with Krunal Pandya picking up two crucial wickets of SRH skipper Aiden Markram and Glenn Phillips.

Just when the home team was under tremendous pressure, South Africa international Heinrich Klaasen played a terrific knock of 47 runs off 29 deliveries while uncapped Indian Abdul Samad hit 37* runs off 25 deliveries. Courtesy of their brilliant knock SRH posted 182 runs on the board at the end of the first innings.

Notably with the ball, Krunal Pandya picked up two wickets while Yudhvir Singh, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan and Yash Thakur picked up one each. Despite so, the team could have performed better with the ball, especially when they had the game in their hands at the halfway mark. Nevertheless, LSG will be hopeful to get the job done and improve their position on the IPL points table.
