'He is very passionate and very down to earth' - Kuldeep Yadav opens up about Ricky Ponting's influence ahead of IPL 2024

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season kicks off, cricket fans are buzzing with excitement, eager to witness their favourite stars back in action once again. Among the teams gearing up for the challenge is the Delhi Capitals, a squad that has been giving consistent performances in recent seasons but is yet to lift the trophy.

Ahead of their clash against the Punjab Kings at the new Mullanpur stadium on March 23, Delhi Capitals' star spinner Kuldeep Yadav opened up about his experiences with key figures in the team. In an interview with FanCode, Kuldeep shed light on the influence of head coach Ricky Ponting.

'He is like Rohit Sharma' - Kuldeep Yadav

"He is not a very different coach, he is a very nice guy I enjoy a lot with him. He is very passionate and very down to earth and humble, hardworking, and works around everyone. It's fun working with him. It's my third year with Delhi Capitals, I think he has a big role to play in my recent performances. The way he supports players, he is also like Rohit Sharma, keeping everyone together, and being nice to everyone," Kuldeep said when asked about Ponting as a coach.

"He is very supportive of his team, he talks to every youngster who comes into the team, he shows the youngster their value for the team. It is very important as players need clarity about what the team expects from each player,  he is very caring. When asked about Ponting's coaching style," the spinner added.

Kuldeep's recent performances both in international cricket and during the Test series against England have been exemplary. With Rishabh Pant back as captain and teammate Kuldeep in sparkling form, fans have high hopes from the Capitals this season.
