Australian opener David Warner has been rested for the ongoing three match T20I series against India, but he still is making his presence felt in the social media among the Indian fans. The series got underway on Tuesday (September 20) at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali and Australia managed to draw first blood chasing down 209 runs taking a 1-0 lead.
Ahead of the first T20I, Warner posted an interesting image on Instagram of Aaron Finch and Virat Kohli shaking hands with each other from the 2019 series. He also came up with a question of who will win the game and cheered for his team to end up on the winning side.

“Who’s winning tonight?? Come on Australia #cricket #Australia #India,” Warner posted on Instagram.
After the post, an Indian fan reminded Warner that the picture was when Kohli had led the side and highlighted that Rohit is the Indian skipper at the moment. Immediately, Warner showed his down to earth nature and apologised for it which went viral on social media.“I know sorry,” Warner replied to the Indian fan.
Australia beat India in the first T20I
However, it didn't make much difference despite Rohit being captain as Australia ended up winning the opening game of the series. Hardik Pandya's blitzkrieg of 71 runs off 30 balls had helped the home team to post a mammoth total of 208 runs after being invited to bat first. KL Rahul also found his mojo scoring 55 runs off 35 balls.
But Australia were always ahead in the chase thanks to Cameron Green who smacked 61 runs opening for the first time in his career. Matthew Wade then took over and finished the game in fine style as Australia chased down 55 runs off last 20 balls to take an early lead in the series.
