The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has been an iconic place to play cricket over the years. With many iconic matches being played at the venue, the Wankhede Stadium has been known to provide the fans with the best of games. The 2011 ODI World Cup final, where India lifted the trophy after 28 years, the iconic final game of Sachin Tendulkar’s career, and many more have all been played at Wankhede.

In a tweet doing rounds on social media, a picture showed just how prestigious the stadium has been over the years. The post contained three pictures of arguably the three biggest stars of Indian cricket coming down the stairs of the stadium in Mumbai.

The picture had a glimpse of Sachin Tendulkar’s final walk at the crease in the final game of his career, Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni walking down the stairs, and ace Indian batter Virat Kohli on the stairs, as the fans cheered all three of them in the pictures.

Virat Kohli dismissed early at the Wankhede as MI strike early

In the 54th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, five-time champions Mumbai Indians took on the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday, May 9. Coming in to bat first, the visitors got off to the worst of starts as Virat Kohli was sent back to the pavilion for just one run.

Kohli opened the innings alongside skipper Du Plessis. However, he was unable to continue his excellent form as Jason Behrendorff’s delivery snickered Kohli’s bat and was comfortably caught by Ishan Kishan.

Both sides are desperate for a win as they attempt to secure qualification for the playoffs of the tournament. Both teams have 10 points in 10 games in the standings, with only the net run rate dividing them. With the race for qualification beginning to heat up, Mumbai and Bangalore would be keen on registering a much-needed victory.
