The inaugural edition of the International League T20 (ILT20) is all set to kickstart on January 13 with Dubai Capitals taking on Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The competition features numerous high-profile players playing alongside the local lads who will look to garner experience.
With this, two Indians have confirmed their participation in the cash-rich league ahead of the first season. Former cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan are the two only Indians who will feature in the league as they take the field yet again after international retirement. Interestingly, the duo will turn up for Dubai Capitals in the inaugural season.

"It is something I wanted to do (play in overseas T20 leagues). Now that I have retired it gives me the opportunity. I am hoping I will [now] to be able to go to different parts of the world and play the leagues, not just Dubai, even outside the subcontinent - hopefully South Africa next year, England (The Hundred), Australia (BBL) and the Caribbean (CPL). It gives me the access to improve myself, even try to grow my horizons as a human being as well, experience different cultures, places and people,β Uthappa told ESPNcricinfo.
League stage to feature five double-headers
A total of 34 matches will be played in the top-tier league in the first edition with 30 matches in the league stage followed by four matches in the elimination rounds. The final is scheduled to be played on February 12 in Dubai. The six-team competition will see five double-headers which will be contested every weekend.
At present, the ILT20 is the second-most lucrative T20 league behind the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the contracts of top players in the tournament is expected to be in the bracket of US$ 450,000 per season. Despite the league running simultaneously with the SA20, BBL, BPL, and part of the PSL, the ILT20 is expected to have no shortage of entertainment for the fans throughout the course of the event.
