After being rested for the ongoing three-match ODI and T20I series against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma is all set to return to the national side for their tour against Bangladesh. The skipper has hit the nets and begun preparations for the Test and ODI series ahead of the tour to the neighbouring land.

The 35-year-old will reclaim his leadership role against the Bangla Tigers after being rested for the New Zealand tour, where the team was led by Shikhar Dhawan in the ODIs and Hardik Pandya in the T20Is. Rohit was seen hitting the nets and practicing his shots with the bat for the series in December.

“In my zone,” Rohit captioned his post on social media.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to join the Indian squad

The Men in Blue skipper last made his appearance in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2022 held down under. The right-hander endured a rather lean patch during the campaign as he was unable to register big scores to his name.

However, since taking a break from the series against the Kiwis, Rohit is gearing up for a comeback and will hope to return to top form. Along with the 35-year-old, former skipper Virat Kohli has also been rested for the ongoing New Zealand series.

The duo will mark their return to the national setup and join the team for the tour of Bangladesh as they have been included in the ODI and Test squads. While the two are already sweating it out and set to rejoin the squad, team India on the other hand is yet to conclude their series against the BlackCaps.

Furthermore, team India will look to make the most of the Bangladesh series, especially with the ODIs as it will form a basis for the preparations for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup held in India.
