Australia have drawn first blood in the three-match T20I series with an impressive four-wicket victory in the first game at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday, September 20. While the Indian bowlers looked to chip in with wickets at regular intervals, the Aussie batters showed a great fighting spirit.

Meanwhile, India can take heart from the fact that KL Rahul has finally managed to rediscover his lost touch on the 22 yards and Hardik Pandya's quickfire half-century towards the backend of the innings helped them in posting a total well in excess of 200.

After being put into bat first, the hosts lost the wickets of skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early before KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav carried out the rescue act adding 68 runs for the third-wicket stand. While Rahul scored a quickfire 35-ball 55, Yadav played a good supporting knock of 46 runs off 25 deliveries.

When the duo was dismissed, it appeared as if the Indians would be restricted to a manageable total when Dinesh Karthik also failed to contribute. But Hardik Pandya steadied the ship and played a stupendous knock scoring an unbeaten 71 runs off 30 balls as India finished at a stiff total of 208/6.

For Australia, Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers with 3/30 while Josh Hazlewood picked 2/39 and Cameron Green picked up a scalp.

In reply, skipper Aaron Finch and Cameron Green helped Australia get off to a brisk start as the opening pair started attacking from the word 'go'. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel castled Finch after which Green (61) and Steve Smith (35) were involved in a 70-run second wicket stand.

Once the duo was dismissed it appeared as if it would pave way for the hosts to stage a remarkable comeback. Nonetheless, that was not to be as Matthew Wade had other ideas. Wade changed the complexion of the game by hitting Harshal Patel for two sixes in the 18th over and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for three fours in the penultimate over as Australia crossed the line in the final over. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 21-ball 45.
