Amidst all the carnage on the opening day of the third Test between India and Australia in Indore, Australian batting ace Peter Handscomb was caught napping in the dressing room. The Australian batter was still in his jersey and had his cap down his face while his compatriot Alex Carey was sitting right beside him during the second innings.
The visitors took full advantage of the new ball after Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in the decisive third Test at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. Australian bowlers, led by left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, restricted the home side to a paltry total of 109 runs on a minefield of a surface.
However, the Australian batters showed much better application in the second innings despite losing Travis Head in the second over. While Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne were battling it out against the Indian spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Peter Handscomb was seen taking a nap in the Australian dressing room.

Earlier, the Indian batters could not handle the pressure exerted by the Aussie spinners as stand-in skipper Steve Smith got his tactics spot on in the field. He employed just seven overs from the pacers and bowled his three spinners in tandem to great effect. Kuhnemann opened the floodgates for the tourists, dismissing Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Shubman Gill in his successive overs.
The left-arm spinner returned with magnificent bowling figures of 5/16 in his nine overs and found valiant support from veteran offie Nathan Lyon, who scalped three wickets from the other end. The Aussie batting pair of Khawaja and Labuschagne have shown great composure in the middle, and are threatening to post a daunting total, in reply to India's horror show with the bat in the morning session.
