India took on Pakistan in Match 19 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County Stadium in New York, on Sunday, June 9. India put up below below-par total of 119 losing all their wickets and batting for 19 overs. As Pakistan started their chase, Indian bowlers started exerting pressure and it was evident when Mohammed Siraj's usual antics of running out the batter at the striker's end. 

Siraj was bowling his first over and he bowled a fuller delivery as Rizwan defended the ball back to the bowler. The pacer picked the ball quickly and tried attacking the stumps only to hit Rizwan who dived to save himself. The ball got deflected and reached the boundary rope which was collected by the fielder. The Hyderabad bowler was quick to make amend with the batter and things were back to normalcy.

Pakistan bowlers showed their prowess with the ball as they picked Indian batters at regular intervals. After 10 overs India were three wickets down for 83 runs, at the end they scored just 37 runs in the next nine overs losing seven wickets. Naseem Shah was the pick of the bowler as he plucked three wickets. Mohammad Amir, who snared two wickets summed up Pakistan’s outing on the field after the game.

“As a bowling unit we did well but I still think it’s a decent total on this track. We’ll need to bat well. My role was to hit the right areas and build pressure on them, I think I did my job. We need to bat well and sensibly, all the games here have been a bit tricky and low-scoring. We need to start well and finish well,” said Amir after the first innings.
