Delhi Capitals bottled their chase against Punjab Kings in the 59th match of IPL 2023 to become the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. Punjab pulled off an incredible win and bettered their chances to qualify for the playoffs.

It was a one-man show in the first innings, as pn a pitch where all the other batters struggled to get going, Prabhsimran Singh played a sensational innings, scoring his maiden IPL century. Even though wickets were falling from one end, the 22-year-old held his nerves and smashed 103 runs off just 65 deliveries. On the other than, only two of PBKS’ batters managed to score in double digits.

On the back of Prabhsimran's incredible knock, the visiting team posted 167 runs on board as Ishant Sharma picked up two wickets while Axar Patel, Praveen Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar picked up one each.

When it came to the chase, DC openers David Warner and Phil Salt looked flawless at a point as the home team was 69-0 after 6.1 overs. However, things quickly changed as wickets kept falling like a house of cards. Salt departed after scoring 21 runs off 17 deliveries while Mitchell Marsh (3), Rilee Rossouw (5), Axar Patel (1) and Manish Pandey (0) all departed one by one as Punjab were all over the visiting team.

Skipper David Warner too lost his wicket after hitting 54 runs off 27 deliveries as Delhi completely lost all their momentum. Spinner Harpreet Brar picked up four wickets with the ball for Punjab while Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar picked up two each. Meanwhile, following their incredible win, PBKS moved to number six on the IPL points table while DC remain at the bottom of the table.
