IPL 2024: Former CSK skipper MS Dhoni asks Ruturaj Gaikwad to pat him on his back, moment goes viral

Franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are easily one of the most iconic sides in the coveted IPL (Indian Premier League). With five titles to their name, the side has garnered fans from all over the country, and a lot has been credited to the legendary wicketkeeper, MS Dhoni.

However, with the advent of the IPL 2024, the hierarchy in the CSK camp has changed. MS Dhoni has stepped down as the captain of the side, letting the youngsters shine and carry the franchise’s legacy forward. 

The same was the case in the side’s recent clash against Mumbai Indians when Chennai defeated Mumbai by 20 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. A picture from the game has been going viral all over social media as veteran MS Dhoni was captured asking new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to give him a pat on the back.

Chennai Super Kings continue to perform under Ruturaj Gaikwad

Speaking of Chennai Super Kings, the side has been performing brilliantly under the leadership of star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad. The 27-year-old was handed the leadership role for the side ahead of the IPL 2024 season after former skipper MS Dhoni stepped down from the role. 

Under Gaikwad’s leadership, Chennai Super Kings currently find themselves in third place in the standings with eight points in six matches. The five-time champions have managed to win four matches and lost the remaining two.

They also managed to register a dominant victory against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, defeating the five-time champions by 20 runs. After defeating Mumbai, Chennai will now travel to Lucknow where they take on Lucknow Super Giants, at the Ekana Stadium, in the 34th game of the tournament on Friday, April 19.
