IPL 2024: Top 10 Memes from RR vs GT, Match 24

Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans faced off in Match 24 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday. GT won the toss and opted to bat first, anticipating further downpour following a rain-delayed start. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler provided a slow start to their team. The batters were dismissed after scoring 24 and 8, respectively. However, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag paired up for damage control. 

The duo stitched 130 runs for the third wicket and put RR in a commanding position. Parag played a brilliant inning and was dismissed after scoring 76 off 48. Samson continued his onslaught and he was joined by Shimron Hetmyer for the fifth wickets. The final over saw 19 runs being scored off Umesh Yadav and RR posted a challenging 196 on board. Samson remained unbeaten at 68 off 38.

The visitors were off to a better start than RR. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill kept their guard up and kept the scoreboard ticking. Sudharsan departed after scoring 35 off 29. Matthew Wade and Abhinav Manohar could not withstand the pressure and departed after scoring 4 and 1, respectively. Vijay Shankar continued his lean patch with 16 runs. Then came Rahul Tewatia and Shah Rukh Khan was brought in as an Impact Player.

Shahrukh played a 14-run cameo and set the tone for the chase. Tewatia and Rashid Khan put a 38-run stand and GT needed 15 runs off the final over. Rashid smoked two boundaries and Tewatia was run out trying to steal an extra run. With two required off the last ball, the Afghan all-rounder flayed Avesh Khan over backward point as Gujarat breached the RR’s fortress. They won by three wickets and finally returned to winning ways against the 2022 finalists.
