After enduring a dubious start to the season, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru rallied with a remarkable six-game winning streak, igniting hope and excitement among RCB supporters ahead of the IPL 2024 Eliminator. Many believed that this could finally be the season for them. Despite the hopes and dreams of RCB fans, the Rajasthan Royals had other plans, crashing their party by defeating them by four wickets with an over to spare, ultimately eliminating RCB from the tournament.

Despite the anguish of RCB's defeat, former South African and RCB icon AB de Villiers, mirroring the sentiments of many RCB supporters, expressed profound disappointment, recognizing the agony of losing a high-octane match. In a tweet posted on X, De Villiers, who represented the franchise from 2011 to 2021, featuring in 156 matches and scoring 4491 runs, expressed his admiration for the team's ability to foster hope among fans since the beginning of May. He remained optimistic about RCB's comeback in the next IPL season, believing they would return stronger and achieve success in terms of winning the title.
